LAPS News:
Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) celebrated Leap Day, Feb. 29, by breaking ground for construction of the new Chamisa Elementary School.
Chamisa staff, students, School Board members, County officials, and representatives of Dekker Perich Sabatini and Jaynes Corporation participated in the groundbreaking. Students wore yellow “hard” hats during the ceremony which culminated with the tossing of dirt and their hats.
The new school is slated to be completed by August 2025.
Construction of the new school is made possible by the recently passed General Obligation (GO) Bond passed by voters last November. LAPS thanks the community and tax payers for their ongoing support of our schools and students.
