CHAMISA News:

Chamisa Elementary School in White Rock is the “Best of State” winner of the Scholastic Read-a-Palooza Summer Reading Challenge.

Chamisa students read the most minutes of all elementary schools in the state of New Mexico.

Chamisa has always had a summer reading program, but the last two years reading minutes have been logged on the Scholastic website. Brittany Carpenter, parent volunteer, has run the summer reading program for at least the last five years.

The more minutes a student reads, the more tickets they can enter into a drawing for prizes donated by the Los Alamos Masonic Lodge. The prizes are two readers and two bicycles.
