NMHA News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Kathy Komoll has announced that she will retire from her role as Chief Executive Officer of the New Mexico Hospitality Association (NMHA) in late November 2025.

NMHA is a nonprofit membership organization that represents all sectors of the state’s hospitality and tourism industry, one of the state’s largest private industries. According to the New Mexico Tourism Department, more than 90,000 people work in the hospitality industry statewide, and visitors generate over $8.8 billion in spending, including $2.8 billion in lodging.

Komoll has served as CEO since 2018, overseeing the organization’s events and its advocacy, educational and membership programs. She previously served as the executive director of the New Mexico Association of Food Banks and as vice president of Real Estate, Community & Government Relations for Furr’s Supermarkets.

“It has been an honor to serve the New Mexico Hospitality Association and to work alongside such a dedicated and passionate Board of Directors,” Komoll said. “Thank you for the opportunity to lead this organization and for your continued support of our industry and its amazing people. I wish NMHA great success in the next chapter.”

Komoll’s retirement will be recognized at the NMHA TopHAT Gala, an annual awards ceremony that honors exceptional work in the industry. TopHAT (Top Hospitality and Tourism) awards will be presented on Nov. 18, 2025, at the Sheraton Uptown in Albuquerque, N.M. Awards include tourism marketing categories such as best broadcast campaign, best social media campaign and outstanding event plus lodging awards such as best back-of-house hospitality employee, top full-service hotel and hotel owner of the year.

“We thank Kathy for her service and contributions to the organization during her tenure, and look forward to expressing our gratitude at the upcoming TopHAT Gala,” Ray Roa said, NMHA president. “The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and has put a plan in place to guide the organization during this important period. We remain focused on advancing our mission, serving our members and strengthening the organization for the future.”
