Celebrate New Mexico’s Diversity On Culture Day Feb. 24

NMDCA News:

SANTA FE — Celebrate the creativity, resilience, and heritage of New Mexico at Culture Day in the State Capitol rotunda Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.

This special event showcases the eight museums, eight historic sites, arts, archaeology, historic preservation, and library programs under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.

New Mexico’s history spans millions of years—from the time dinosaurs shook the countryside, the first people left footprints in the sand and called this home, to our role in the race to the Moon and stars. From pueblos to historic homesteads and orchards, forts, ranchlands, and farms, New Mexico’s history is rich with the muscle of creation, hope, and determination.

NMDCA is excited to share examples of what makes New Mexicans proud, from dino-fossils to award-winning art and artists, and crafts spun from the wool fleece of Navajo churro sheep. It’s a mix of exciting exhibits and events, from moon maps and meteorites to traditional printing and tortilla art. See how our New Mexico Cultural Affairs teams work daily to protect and share our vibrant past with generations to come.

This event is open to the public, with activities and mementos to take home (stickers, posters, pencils, and books). Join us at the State Capitol rotunda from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and discover how NMDCA continues to honor and preserve the rich history of New Mexico.
