Celebrate Earth Day On Santa Fe National Forest

SFNF News:

Join Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) staff, along with their partners, for the annual Dia del Rio y Camino (River and Road) Litter Clean-up event to be held Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.

Participants at the Pecos, New Mexico location will be assigned various sites along NM Hwy 63 for trash pickup, with all supplies provided.

This annual event, organized by the Upper Pecos Watershed Association, highlights the meaningful partnerships between all agencies along the Pecos River and the dedication to resource stewardship and protection. Working together we can protect and improve the health of the watershed, address significant ecological and environmental issues in the watershed, and preserve traditional and cultural uses that benefit the local economy.

“We are grateful to have Upper Pecos Watershed Association and local volunteers helping keep the Pecos River clean. The Pecos is a special river to so many people and serves as a water source for communities from its headwaters in the Pecos Wilderness of the Santa Fe National Forest to its terminus in Texas. This river cleanup event gives volunteers an opportunity to come together across state lines and contribute to a cleaner and healthier Pecos River for all,” states Sarah Smith, Social Science Analyst with the SFNF.

To help, meet between 10 a.m. to noon at the Pecos Benedictine Monastery at 16 Guadalupe Ln, Pecos, NM 87552
