BR Brand Catering owner Bryant Roybal and his family treated Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr. Christopher Gutierrez and members of the frontline medical staff at Los Alamos Medical Center to a special lunch Saturday in appreciation for the work they are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My business is suffering right now because there are no large parties, school graduations, funeral luncheons or anything else,” Roybal said. “But I am so grateful to the medical service staff here at the hospital and I wanted to thank them. I also want to thank the community for their generous support every year during the summer concerts. I have really made a lot of money here over the years and I’m very grateful.”
Roybal opened his company in March 2014, which is headquartered at 2 Calle de Romero in Santa Fe. He provides fine catering throughout Northern New Mexico. Menu items include chili and BBQ, smoked meats and red and green chili, smoked chicken, pulled pork, salmon, turkey, smoked ribs, hot link, brisket, enchiladas, green chili stew and more.
LAMC CEO John Whiteside was at the event Saturday helping to set up the serving area in the hospital parking lot. He spoke to the Los Alamos Daily Post about his appreciation to the Roybal family and this act of kindness toward his frontline medical care professionals.
“It’s so generous of Bryant to do this for our medical team … they are doing such a great job and it is wonderful to see them recognized in this way,” Whiteside said. “I want to thank Bryant and his family. I also want to mention how much we appreciate the kindness and compassion the community has shown us. People have donated much needed PPE to help keep our staff and visitors to our facility safe.”
Whiteside encourages residents to continue following CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Social distancing and washing hands for at least 20 seconds remains critically important as COVID-19 has now been diagnosed in town,” Whiteside said. “Everyone is doing really good and we can’t thank them enough.”
LAMC continues to welcome donations of PPE. PPE includes masks, gloves, protective clothing, helmets, goggles and other garments and equipment designed to protect health care personnel from injury and infection.
Residents, veterinarians and dentists able to donate unused PPE should call the main number at LAMC for instructions at 505.662.4201.
