Individuals impacted by COVID-19 since March 1, 2020 who reside in Los Alamos County and meet income qualifications, will be able to complete an application for childcare assistance, and/or virtual learning assistance.

For the childcare assistance program, residents that have experienced a COVID-19 related financial hardship and meet income qualifications, can apply for both reimbursements of childcare costs, or outstanding balances due to a qualified childcare facility.

Los Alamos County also is offering a one-time grant award to help with virtual schooling during COVID-19 to Los Alamos County residents with school age children who are attending virtual schooling and reside in the Los Alamos Public School District.

These awards will range from $100-$500 per household and are dependent upon income and residency qualifications.

Because of the ongoing pandemic, applicants are asked to email their applications to the County for processing. The County will assess the number of applications received against funds available and the needs of the community outlined in the applications.

“The results of the initial individual award program has given us an opportunity to open up a second round of awards where we did not see a large initial response but know there is still a need in the community to assist with,” Social Services Manager Donna Casados said.

Direct questions and applications for the individual Emergency Grants to CARESassistance@lacnm.us or call 505.663.1966, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
