The Los Alamos School Board is in search of a candidate to fill a vacancy on the board created by the departure of Dawn Jalbert.
Jalbert, who represents District 5, submitted her letter of resignation at the June 11 School Board meeting and June 30 is her final day serving on the board.
The person appointed by the school board will serve through Dec. 31, 2021, which officially ends Jalbert’s term.
Those interested in serving as the District 5 representative beyond Dec. 31,2021 must declare their candidacy and run in the election in November 2021.
Applicants must be a registered voter, over 18 years of age, and reside in District 5. Â Click here to view the district map.
Interested candidates should   submit a letter of interest, proof of residency in District 5 and a resume to the school board recording secretary, Debra Larson, at d.larson@laschools.net.
The deadline for submissions 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 6. The School Board will make the appointment in July 2021.
