Cancer SUPPORT Group for Caregivers

Cancer SUPPORT Group for Caregivers

By Paula Roybal Sánchez
President of the Los Alamos Council on Cancer

Are you a caregiver of someone who has been newly diagnosed with cancer? Or do you care for someone who is battling cancer or has beaten the disease?

The Los Alamos Council on Cancer offers Cancer Support for Caregivers. This free informational discussion group for caregivers of cancer patients and survivors is held the third Monday of the month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Cancer Corner at the Los Alamos Medical Center.

The next session is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 19. The sessions are led by a trained cancer facilitator who is a registered nurse with a degree in psychology. She has been in the oncology field for 39 years and has had three kinds of cancer herself. No registration is required.

The program is free and all cancer caregivers are welcome. No two people have the same caregiving experience. The group is designed to help you handle different situations that arise when caring for a person with cancer. It also provides ways to find more in-depth information or help when you encounter a difficult situation. Contact Bernice at 690-1245 for questions or paula@LosAlamosCouncilOnCancer.org
