LAPS News:

Broadway professionals will be on hand to meet Los Alamos theater students attending the Junior Theater Festival (http://www.itheatrics.com) in Atlanta, Ga., this January.

JTF is a conference for youth, teachers and professionals in the field of musical theater.

The Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School students also will receive instruction in musical theater and attend a professional performance as part of the program, sponsored by Atomic City Children’s Theater, which receives grant money through Los Alamos Public Schools.

To pay for their travel and lodging expenses, the students hosted a dessert fundraiser Nov. 16.

Attendees were treated to cheesecake and coffee and were able to purchase desserts during a silent auction.

Students performed four songs during the fundraiser from “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.”, which they also will perform at JTF.

Much appreciation goes out to Annette Russell, for coordinating the fundraising event, Starbuck’s Coffee, Los Alamos National Bank, Chuck’s Nuts, First Baptist Church and everyone who contributed dessert to the silent auction.
