Breaking News: Gas Leak at Piedra Loop and Sherwood

Contractors and Los Alamos County staff were digging at Piedra Loop and Sherwood Boulevard in White Rock when a gas main was ruptured and police and fire department staff were called to the scene.

The situation has been contained. Firefighters with the Los Alamos Fire Department are standing by in case of emergency, but at this time the gas has not ignited.

The intersection is currently closed.

The Los Alamos Police Department told the Los Alamos Daily Post moments ago to ask that motorists avoid the area until at least 12:15 p.m. today.
