When you pull into the driveway, you’ll notice adobe walls have been cheerfully painted with flamingoes and flowering vines.
The flower garden has been cared for and decorated with colorful pinwheels. A table is set up in the shade in case anyone wants to have a picnic, or just take a rest.
Someone has poured a lot of love into this place. It makes you want to walk up the brick walkway to see what is inside.

Anna Dillane, the owner of Boomerang Thrift Boutique, has always loved thrift stores. Her store proves how wonderful and loveable thrift stores can be.
I’ve been shopping at Boomerang for four years and every time I enter I find something that makes me jump up and down and scream, “Yes!”
The last time I was there, I saved $100 on a filing cabinet, found a gorgeous Coldwater Creek suede coat in my size for $29.95 and snatched up several 2T ballet costumes.
Plus, I scoped out a full set of fine china, and a toddler bed.
Everything in the store is a great find. That’s because Dillane only keeps the good stuff.
Anything that she can’t sell for whatever reason – she puts into a free pile that members of the community distribute among the less fortunate in the area.
She further maintains the quality of the store by scouring yard sales, flea markets and auctions for unusual treasures and high quality furniture to offer her customers.
Dillane encourages high-caliber donations by giving store credit of up to 50 percent off.
Boomerang not only has amazing merchandise, but it’s also clean, organized and fun. “I love to create beauty all around me,” Dillane said. “It started out as a hobby. The store was like my playground. I wanted to create something out of four walls where everything is visually beautiful and comforting, but also stimulating.”
Boomerang is full of personality because she is excited to step out of the box of what is considered “normal.”
“I think that’s why I’m successful,” Dillane said, “because I’m willing to fly my freak flag.”

Customers who are looking for inspiration for their home, their wardrobe or for a special gift will find it at Boomerang.
A lot of Dillane’s business creativity has been a result of inner growth.
She has made a mental shift from judgment to non-judgment. That shift has been very liberating, she said.
“I used to form conclusions like, ‘I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that,’ or ‘I wouldn’t be good at that.’ Now, I just think, ‘Why not? That would be fun.’ I’ve given myself freedom to fail … and realize that I’m not failing.”
Anna has been in business for ten years—since 2002. Over the years she has learned to have more fun with her business by adding creative touches like using a secret word of the day to let her Facebook fans get special inside deals. She also hosts a ladies’ night out (a private shopping night for women) in the store.
When asked about her business goal, Dillane said, “I am not trying to be the cheapest thrift store – there are plenty of shops out there vying for that honor. I am trying to be the NICEST thrift shop you go in. The shop that makes you feel happy and honored and valued when you walk in the door. In these 10 years, I think that is the thing I hear most … that my customers really enjoy coming in. Some people come during their lunch breaks, just to get a little time to relax. Others make it a point to come to Boomerang when they are visiting New Mexico. That’s quite an honor–to have people planning Boomerang into their vacation schedule!”
“My favorite part of being in this business is the people I meet who are so generous and kind when they come in the door,” Dillane said. “My second favorite thing is the stuff … we get the most amazing stuff here!”
