Mark your calendar for ¡Fiesta Los Alamos!, a festive event taking place 6-10 pm. Saturday, July 25 at Fuller Lodge.
All proceeds raised at ¡Fiesta Los Alamos!, a fundraiser of the Los Alamos Rotary STARS, will support a shelter for the parents of children receiving treatment in Juarez, Mexico who are forced by poverty to sleep on the street while their children are in the hospital.
The Blue Window Bistro, a Gold sponsor and caterer of the event, has announced the menu as follows (subject to change):
- Salsa/dip bar (six or so different salsas, queso, guacamole)
- Tilapia ceviche
- Cheese enchiladas
- Taco bar (shrimp, pork and shredded beef)
- Mexican rice
- Roasted beans with pico de gallo
- Mexican style roasted corn
- Squash blossom sauté
- Flan
- Mexican bread pudding
- Tres leches
- Pineapple, pecan and coconut-rum tamales
Throughout the evening, a live mariachi band will stroll the grounds playing authentic and festive music. Baile Español, a flamenco dance troupe from Santa Fe, also will perform. Kids can take a swing at a candy-filled piñata or partake in other crafts and activities. Fantastic prizes will be auctioned off, including beautiful Mexican pottery and a 3-night vacation in Cabo San Lucas with resort and airfare.
Entrance includes dinner, non-alcoholic drinks, entertainment and activities. Bandelier Grill also will provide a cash bar serving a selection of wine, Mexican beer, margaritas and sangria. Bandelier Grill will donate $1 from every drink sold to the cause.
Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. The tickets can be purchased at the Blue Window Bistro, First National Santa Fe (Los Alamos Branch), Los Alamos National Bank, or online at www.FiestaLA.eventbrite.com.
