National Hispanic Cultural Center Launches Blooming New Logo To Kick Off 25th Anniversary Celebration

NMDCA News:

ALBUQUERQUE — With National Hispanic Cultural Center’s 25th anniversary coming up in October, the Center has unveiled a new logo that pays homage to the organization’s vibrancy and honors Hispanic nations around the world.

“This logo showcases the beauty and diversity of our shared cultures and communities, for us here at the NHCC it is an honor to continue to preserve the arts, history, and language of our shared people,” National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) Executive Director Zack Quintero said. “Our connection and focus on uplifting local, regional, and national cultural events and traditions from our gente has firmly established the Center as a leader these last 25 years, and we’re proud to pay homage to that work done by incredible artists, poets, musicians, performers, historians, and most importantly our staff, during the 25th anniversary celebration.”

The 25th Anniversary logo is adorned with colorful flowers from Hispanic and Spanish-speaking countries. These include a selection of iconic national flowers from the 21 nations where Spanish is the primary language, including Spain’s bright red carnations and Mexico’s distinctive dahlias. This visual bouquet also features flowers with significance to Hispanic culture across borders, like the marigolds included in Día de los Muertos celebrations around the world.

The Center’s staff-led 25th Anniversary Committee wanted a bright, colorful design that showcased the Center’s vibrant campus and programming. As part of the design process, NHCC Graphic Designer Katie Rooke designed each flower in Adobe Illustrator to give the logo a personal touch. From there, Center staff, visitors, and supporters selected the design from a quartet of finalists. Rooke said she was inspired by the vibrancy and bright colors of the Center and its various programs.

The logo will appear on material promoting the Center’s programming leading up to and throughout its 25th anniversary celebration. NHCC opened to the public in October 2000, and the Center is planning a kickoff party on Saturday, Oct. 25, designed to celebrate 25 years of art, community, and culture.
