BLM News:FARMINGTON ― Dec. 5-6, the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Farmington District Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will convene for a day long meeting in Farmington at the Farmington District Office at 6251 College Blvd, Ste. A, followed by a field trip the following morning.
Both the meeting and the field trip are open to the public.
Dec. 5, the RAC meeting is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m at the Farmington District Office. The RAC agenda will include introduction of new RAC members, an election of a new RAC Chair, an update on the Farmington Resources Management Plan Amendment and the Río Grande del Norte National Monument Plan, updates on the Taos general recreation plan and the Farmington Glade Run recreation implementation plan, an overview of the Fire and Fuel plan treatments for the Farmington District, an overview of the Farmington District grazing permits, a presentation on Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and a presentation of BLM’s role in the Four Corners Air Quality Group.
The meeting will have a half-hour public comment period at 3 p.m., for anyone interested in addressing the RAC. Depending on the number of persons wishing to speak and time available, individual comments may be limited. The public may also send written comments to the RAC by mailing to the BLM Farmington District Office, Attn: Zach Stone, 5251 College Blvd, Ste A, Farmington, NM 87402. Written comments must be received no later than Dec. 4.
On the following day, the RAC tour will begin at 8 a.m. from the Farmington District Office and will depart for the Chockcherry Canyon Glade Run Recreation Area, returning to the Office by 12 p.m. The public will have to provide their own transportation and bring their own lunch and water.
The 10-member Farmington District Resource Advisory Council provides advice and recommendations on resource and land management issues for 1.6 million acres of public land located within the District’s 12 northern New Mexico counties under its jurisdiction.
