ROTARY News:

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos selected Bill Hudson as this year’s “Local Hero.” Hudson was honored at the 2013 Rotary District Conference May 5 in Las Cruses and again at a Rotary Club of Los Alamos meeting Tuesday.

Hudson is a decorated World War II Marine Corps veteran who served at the Battle of Iwo Jima when he was just 19.

Now in his late 80s, Hudson has been a coach and fitness instructor and has participated in many volunteer activities in Los Alamos, including Rotary.

The Los Alamos triathlon, the longest running continuous triathlon in the country, was organized by Bill and his wife Maureen in 1975.

Bill has spoken frequently to students and groups on topics including health and fitness, military and World War II history, and patriotism.
