Biblical Archaeologist To Speak In Los Alamos April 28

The Los Alamos Church of Christ will be hosting Dr. Steven Collins, PhD, for a lecture open to the community from 9-10:30 a.m. and at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 28. 

Among a varitey of biblical archaeology topics Dr. Collins will discuss is the identity of the Egyptian Pharoh at the time of Moses as well as recent findings at the site of Sodom and Gomorah.

Dr. Collins is among the world’s foremost biblical archaeologists. He is Director of the School of Archaeology at Veritas International University and serves as Consulting Research Professor in the College of Archaeology, Trinity Southwest University. He is Director and Chief Archaeologist of the Tall el-Hammam excavations in Jordan, now completing its 17th season.

Prior to Tall el-Hammam, Dr. Collins excavated at other sites in Israel and Palestine.

A prolific writer, he has produced articles in professional journals and magazines including “Biblical Archaeology Review”, and many books such as, “Discovering the City of Sodom,” (Simon & Schuster 2013) and the “Harvest Handbook of Bible Lands,” (a Gold Medallion finalist; Harvest House Publishers, 2019) for which he is co-editor and a principal author.

Dr. Collins is a professional member of American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) and a board member of Near East Archaeological Society (NEAS). He is a much-sought-after conference speaker/teacher and is featured in numerous documentary films by the National Geographic Society, the Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Travel Channel, as well as independent films.
