CO-OP News:

The Los Alamos Cooperative Market began bringing local brewers to Los Alamos with their first Beer Dinner in October of last year.

The Co-op’s third Beer Dinner was held last Thursday and featured Second Street Brewery. The food focused on local and organic ingredients, which are all available at the Co-op.

The menu was designed and prepared by the Second Street Brewmaster, Rod Tweet, and the Second Street head chef, Jason Gleichman.

The evening consisted of five beers paired with five courses. Each course was introduced by Tweet and Gleichman, who divulged the intricacies of each beer, the paring and the cuisine.

The evening included a special treat handmade by Tweet, who not only specializes in brewing, but also creates kielbasa.

Lusty Monk mustards and a variety of local cheese brought out the complex flavors of his raspberry kielbasa.

Co-op Beer Dinners  are held bi-annually and to meet the demand, the Co-op is looking into hosting an informal Beer Dinner in January or February.

The Los Alamos Co-op is at 95 Entrada Dr., next to the Holiday Inn Express. The Co-op measures its success by how well it reflects the values of the community through the Co-op’s products and services.
