Bear Springs Fire Update

The Bear Springs Fire’s approximate location is 23 miles South West of White Rock.. 

The fire size is 182 acres. Total personnel are now 160. The fire is burning in mixed conifer and ponderosa pine.

From the Incident Information System:

The Bear Springs Fire started at 6:36 p.m. Sunday, June 3 on the Jemez Ranger District, Jemez.

Cause of the fire is lightning in an area of ponderosa pine and mixed conifer.

There are multiple ground and air resources en route and crews the on scene. A Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered and will assume management of the fire from the District at 8 a.m. Tuesday..

Fire behavior has been active with running and spotting. Smoke is visible from the sourounding area and will have varied effect on the community depending on wind and air inversions. There are no evacuations at this time.

The Walatoa Visitors Center will be the main Information center for the fire.
