Bear Sighting In Los Alamos Captured On Video

This bear was spotted at around 7:30 a.m. today in the back yard of a Los Alamos home. Sam Crooks explained that his mother first saw the bear in their backyard while their miniature Australian Shepard dog was there barking. ‘My mom made loud noises, causing the bear to clumsily climb over our fence and trot away into the forest,’ Crooks said. ‘I snatched my camera and followed it, but kept a safe distance. This is the third time I’ve seen this bear. He was on the Woodland Trail near the golf course. It got into our neighbor’s garbage two different nights. During those nights, a coyote followed the bear to the garbage and waited for the bear to leave. Then, the coyote enjoyed a meal from the garbage. Hopefully either the county or fish and wildlife service can relocate him.’ Photo by Sam Crooks
