Barranca Mesa Elementary School PTO Hosts Inaugural Trick-or-Trot 5K & 1 Miler Fun Run/Walk Oct. 30

Barranca Mesa PTO News:

The PTO for Barranca Mesa Elementary is hosting the first Trick-or-Trot 5K fun run & walk Saturday, Oct. 30 at Barranca Mesa Elementary School.

The 5K starts at 9 a.m. and the 1 Miler begins at 10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best costume and join in the most fun event of the Halloween season! Monsters of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate.

Registration is $35 for adults, and $20 for children. Register at www.barrancapto.org/trickortrot. Packet pickup starts at 8 a.m. the morning of the event. Same-day registration will be available.

After the race, the community is invited to the “Monster Mash” dance party. The family-fun event will include popcorn and cotton candy to purchase, dancing, an award ceremony, and prize drawing.

There will be medals for the top 3 finishers in the following categories:

  • Men,
  • Women;
  • Boys;
  • Girls; and
  • Best Costume.

The top three fastest boys and girls in the 1 Mile race also will receive medals. All racers who finish will be placed into a drawing for exciting prizes.

The course will begin and finish at the bus loop at Barranca Mesa Elementary, 57 Loma del Escolar in Los Alamos. Runners will proceed from the bus loop down Camino Encantado, then back up and head East on Barranca Road. They’ll loop down Los Pueblos and back up Navajo and then return to the school. Runners will be on the sidewalk except the first stretch of Barranca Road where there is no sidewalk.
