ALBUQUERQUE ― Wednesday, Attorney General Hector Balderas has secured a guilty plea in a case involving an embezzlement from an Albuquerque small business.
 
Mica Tyler plead to a second degree felony for stealing more than $100,000 from Toyomasters while acting as its bookkeeper.
 
“Small businesses are the backbone of New Mexico’s economy, and we must protect them from fraud and abuse so that they can prosper and continue their valuable contributions to our communities,” Balderas said. “I am very pleased that our office was able to secure justice for the victims in this case.”
 
Tyler is facing up to three years in custody at sentencing. The victim has spent the last five years paying back debts owed by the company as a result of this theft. As part of her plea, Tyler will pay restitution to the victim, and the case will go to sentencing Jan. 27, 2020.
