AtomiComedy Returns Feb. 1

ATOMICOMEDY News:

AtomiComedy, Los Alamos’ local comedy group, returns for a performance 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar Street.

“Queens of AtomiComedy” will feature performances exclusively by female comics from Los Alamos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Despite the exclusive gender of the performers, those of the male or any in-between persuasion are welcomed to the audience and will be sure to enjoy the evening, although they may want to use protection.

Tickets are $15 and available at the door or online at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/atomicomedy-2

David Zimmermann, founder of AtomiComedy and producer for the show, anticipates this will be another hilarious evening with the blend of home-grown and out-of-town talent.

Queens of AtomiComedy will be hosted by Isabel Madley, a well-known performer with Wayward Comedy, Santa Fe’s best (and only) comedy troupe. Madley is known for skewering relationships, psychoanalyzing pop culture, and spouting the usual liberal feminist claptrap, making her a perfect hostess for the evening.

Los Alamos performers featured are:

  • Andrea Albert, a Taco Bell connoisseur at night, astrophysicist during the day. (That seems backwards somehow, doesn’t it?)
  • Kaity Burke, who sent some words regarding her bit but the messenger pigeon either got lost or was eaten by a cat so we’ll need to find out in person.
  • Wendy Caldwell Lanchier, who loves hearing the sound of her own voice and hopes the audience will, too.
  • Emily Stark, who said she was too busy to provide any words for this advance article, which she said was funny in itself and that gives you some idea of her sense of humor.
Off-the-Hill performers are:
  • Leka, a New Mexican-born, Latinx/Hispanic artist who blends humor, storytelling, and the occasional song and whose comedy often reflects her unique neurodivergent perspectives.
  • Chancey Marler, whose first name was misspelled on the flyer for this event and who plans to skewer the publicist during her set to avenge the mistake.
  • Sarina Ochoa, a Mixed Martial Arts fighter turned comedian — so you’d better laugh if you know what’s good for you.
  • MaryClaire Potts, a frequent performer with Wayward Comedy and member of the improv group Skeleton Crew, which also will perform during Queens of AtomiComedy.
The show is hosted by Los Alamos Little Theatre. Bathtub Row Brewing Company will be selling libations in the lobby.
The show will very much feature adult content, so you are advised to leave the kids at home.
But nonetheless — come prepared to get your funny bone rocked!
