Atomic City Children’s Theater Holds Auditions For Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.

ACCT News:

Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT), the Los Alamos Public Schools’ after-school theater program, is excited to announce auditions for its elementary school production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr., a two-act musical play based on Dahl’s children’s book and full-length movie.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. and auditions are 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27 in the Mountain Elementary School gymnasium. The auditions are open to any 5th or 6th grade students in the Los Alamos area.

ACCT also is looking for students interested in participating as student directors/choreographers for this show. Middle school and high school students interested in signing up as a student director/choreographer should plan to stop by the audition after school.

ACCT also offers students the chance to explore other areas of technical theater, such as working lights and sound, helping with costumes and working back stage during the shows.

Students interested in these areas also are invited to the audition to register and to meet the directors.

Co-directors Daren Savage and Kelsey Cline are proud to lead the ACCT after-school musical theater program into its seventh year.

Two public performances of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. by the elementary school cast are scheduled for Nov. 21 and 22 at Duane W. Smith Auditorium.

Atomic City Children’s Theater, an official after-school program sponsored by the Los Alamos Public Schools, offers performing opportunities to elementary and middle school age students and is designed to promote academic excellence through participation in the arts.
