ACCT News:

Seventeen Atomic City Children’s Theater (ACCT) students and nine staff and parents from Los Alamos traveled to Atlanta, Ga., over the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend to attend the 2013 Junior Theater Festival (JTF) and brought home the gold.

The young actors received the “Excellence in Ensemble Work” award.

In addition to winning this award, two Los Alamos students were selected for the JTF All-Star musical number that opened the JTF Student Award ceremonies.

Two other Los Alamos students were selected to participate in the Broadway Jr. Slam, and another local student was asked to audition for the Broadway Jr. Choreography DVD.

The JTF weekend was jam-packed with adjudicated performances by Broadway directors, choreographers and performers, music, acting and dancing workshops, a special concert and Q & A with renowned composer Alan Menken.

The group also attended a special performance by the stars of Disney Newsies who flew down especially for the JTF and a special performance of the Blue Man Group in the Fabulous Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta.

Congratulations to the ACCT students on a job well done … you are a credit to Los Alamos and Los Alamos Public Schools.
