Christopher Garcia
Garcia, now 12, said he is excited to invite the community to his premier and share this success with him and everyone who helped make this movie happen. Descanso will premiere at the South Broadway Cultural Center, in conjunction with the Albuquerque Film and Music Event.
Garcia lives in Velarde with his family and just graduated 6th grade at Aspen Elementary School. He will attend Los Alamos Middle School this coming school year.
When he was 11 years old, Garcia wrote Descanso with the help of his father. He had traveled often with his father between his home in Velarde and Albuquerque and was always curious about the crosses on the side of the road. Once his father explained what they were, Garcia was so moved that he wanted to tell a story about them. He wanted this story to not only touch people, but for them to also think about what these crosses represent and why we should always drive safely.
