A new exhibition entitled “On the Grid: Off the Grid” has been installed in the Upstairs Art Gallery at Mesa Public Library, courtesy of the Art Quilt Group of the Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild.
More than 20 artists from all over Northern New Mexico have contributed to the exhibition, slated to run through Feb. 23.
The community is invited to attend an opening reception 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, for this exhibition.
Brilliant colors, innovative materials and unique compositions are the order of the day in the Upstairs Art Gallery. The artists were challenged to work within the theme of On the Grid: Off the Grid, and these works are their interpretations of the theme.
The Art Quilt group is a mini-group of the Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild, which meets monthly in Santa Fe. It is a creative, supportive group which shares ideas about innovative techniques and materials to help members develop original textile art.
Meetings of the Art Quilt Group are 10 a.m. to noon, the second Tuesday of each month at Santa Fe Quilting. The group has shown at the Santa Fe Public Library, Wells Fargo Bank in Santa Fe, La Tienda in Eldorado (Santa Fe) and at several of Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild’s semi-annual quilt shows.
The Upstairs Art Gallery is open seven days a week during regular library hours.
