Applicants Sought For Vacancy On Utilities Board

Applications are being accepted for a July 1 vacancy on the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). 

Interested parties should submit applications by May 15. The BPU is the governing body of the County-owned Department of Public Utilities, which provides the Los Alamos with electric, water, gas and wastewater services. DPU operations include electric production and distribution, water production and distribution, gas distribution and wastewater collection and treatment.

Eligible applicants must be 18 years or older; have been a resident of the County for not less than one year prior to the date of appointment; must be registered to vote in the County; must not hold any public office or be an employee of the County government; and must not conduct any business with the Department of Public Utilities except as a consumer. The current makeup of the BPU allows for an incoming member at this time to have any party affiliation. Members of the BPU work together to serve and represent the best interests of the whole community.

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) operates the county-owned electric, gas, water & wastewater systems under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities. The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and the public is always welcome.
