COMMUNITY News:

The annual Los Alamos Dog Jog will be held Saturday at Rover Park in White Rock.

There is still time to register by going to https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/2021dogjog or download a registration form at www.lafos.org.

Due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions, things will look a little bit different this year. It is strongly encouraged that participants wear a mask whenever possible and to maintain social distancing when possible.

T-shirt pick-up will be available starting at 8:10 a.m. and the runners (5K) will start at 9 a.m., walkers (2 mile) will start shortly thereafter.

Here are some other things to be aware of for the 2021 Los Alamos Dog Jog:

  • If possible, register in advance. If registered online, bring a signed liability waiver and pick up a t-shirt before walking or running.
  • If unable to register in advance, there will be limited race day registration. Participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver and give a t-shirt request, but there will not be t-shirts on race day.
  • Only runners will receive race numbers. Numbers will not be torn off but event organizers will try to get numbers at the finish line and provide finish times when possible. Do not congregate around the finish line.
  • There will not be a prize ceremony. All prizes will be awarded at the finish line and will be handed directly to the winners. The fastest runners with dogs and random walkers will get prizes.
  • There will be plenty of fun doggy toys donated by Pet Pangaea for participants and their dogs to choose from. There will be several baskets so participants can spread out while choosing the perfect gift for pets.

Thanks for joining and for supporting Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals and helping pets less fortunate walking and running companions.
