Eight years and still going strong, the annual Festival of Chocolate will be an ewy gooey delight, 7 to 9 p.m., today at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.
Tickets for the chocolate excursion are $20 and entitles the bearer to all you can eat chocolate, live music and the first look at holiday offerings. A first year foray into this year’s chocolate event is Melissa Paternoster and her self-proclaimed, “team of creative food lovers,” are happy to be participating in the fabulous fundraiser.
The lunch and dinner serving, catering crew are brainstorming their donations for the event and taste buds are sure to be tempted, although revelers will have to be present to see for themselves. Additional donators include; the Rose Chocolatier, Ruby Selvage of Ruby’s River Rocks, chocolate stones that when cast, spread a ripple of delight.
Additional newcomers include Trader Joe’s with a multitude of chocolates like chocolate sea-salt caramels and Sam’s Club with crowd pleasing donations that can be purchased for any party hungry gathering.
LARSO chefs, Fred Ortiz and Michael Mason bake, broil and steam their way through the week, to serve their favorite customers each and every day. This event allows them to carve out some creative culinary craftiness and this year plan a chocolate berry cake, chocolate hazelnut pizelles and cocoa that sticks to your ribs and warms your heart. Recess peanut butter cupcakes from Chef Carlson of Sombrillo/Aspen Ridge Lodge and delicious treats from the Los Alamos Cooperative Market.
My Blue Heaven will play live music for the dancing and listening pleasure of patrons as they burn calories in between bites. The gala event is the kick off to a week-long Festival of Trees, where more than 70 miniature and full sized trees, wreaths and ornaments will be on display for silent auction.
The week will culminate with a four hour showcase of arts and craft vendors, a bake sale, ornament sale and free photos with Santa, 10 a.m. to 2 p,m. on the following Saturday.
