COMMUNITY News:
In previous years the Los Alamos community has donated generously to help out refugees newly resettled in Albuquerque.
Once again, winter coats are needed for refugee families who arrived during this past year. Many are from warm regions where even an Albuquerque winter can be a challenge. But even more so, during this COVID year especially, these gifts send a warm message of encouragement and hope to our newest neighbors struggling to learn to live in a strange new place.
This year the greatest need is for adults – 59 men and women – as well as nine teens, 11 grade school (K-6) and 11 kids under five.
Only new coats are requested please. Also warm hats, gloves, scarves and mittens for the older ones and snowsuits for the little ones would be welcome.
Donation drop points:
- Unitarian Church at 1783 N Sage Loop;
- Bethlehem Lutheran at 2390 North Road; and
- White Rock United Methodist Church at 580 Meadow Lane.
