Annual César Chávez And Dolores Huerta Celebration April 5

NHCC News:

In collaboration with the Recuerda a César Chávez Committee, National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is proud to once again play host to the only nation’s annual march and celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 5 that honors a pair of legendary labor leaders: Dolores Huerta and César Chávez.

The Annual César Chávez and Dolores Huerta Celebration, which has been held at the Center since 2007, is designed to educate the community about the legacy, life, and work of the great American civil rights activists César Chávez and Dolores Huerta.

This year’s event will feature a keynote address from Dolores Huerta, presentation of the “Sí Se Puede” Awards, a car show presented by the Drifters Car Club, live dance and music performances, local dignitaries, and fun activities for the entire family. This is a free event, sponsored by the City of Albuquerque and supported by the NHCC and Bernalillo County.

At 94 years old, Dolores Huerta continues to work tirelessly developing leaders and advocating for the working poor, women, and children. As founder and president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, she travels across the country engaging in campaigns and influencing legislation that supports equality and defends civil rights.

It’s an opportunity to celebrate a pair of change-makers who continue to inspire us to seek social justice and civil rights for all.
