An Opportunity for a Great Conversation

Dear Editor,

How long has it been since you shared a great conversation over savory hors d’oeuvres and luscious deserts?

How often do you have the chance to talk informally to some of our community’s most knowledgeable and creative people?

On April 22 you can join us in supporting the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation in their “Great Conversations” fundraiser.

My wife, Emily, and I have participated in the past and find it a most enjoyable and rewarding way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon while donating to an organization that does so much to enhance our students’ learning experience and to enable our teachers to function at their highest level.

Our conversation leaders are experts in their fields.

They represent a wide range of expertise, experience, successful creativity and community commitment. This event always sells out.

We invite you to come to A Wing in the new Los Alamos High School at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 for an exciting afternoon of sharing and thoughtful discussion.

The tables are small and a LAPSF board member will join each, together with our eminent conversation leaders.

To learn more about our guest speakers and their areas of expertise, and to sign up for your preferred table, go to our website at www.lapsfoundation.com

The website also shares our foundation’s mission and accomplishments since beginning in 2005.

You’ll be surprised at the breadth of the mission that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all LAPS students.

Most of us in Los Alamos have been blessed with positive educational experiences that have contributed to our success.

As a 1965 graduate of Los Alamos High School, I am still repeatedly reminded of my good fortune in being able to get a quality education in my hometown.

Help us build that opportunity for all of our students in the Los Alamos Public Schools.

Roger Waterman, Los Alamos
