Amy Story of Los Alamos broke the news at Tuesday’s County Council meeting in Council Chambers that just in time for the holidays, the community has the opportunity to step back into the Manhattan Project era … and capture it on film.
Check out the MANH(A)TTAN WGN America Facebook page for style ideas and come dressed for the 1940’s. Film crew professionals from the set of the show will do the rest to help make local residents camera ready for this unique photo op for the whole family.
Other actives at the event include a performance by local film score composer Matt Hanson, a sneak peak of a special production of the “The Nutcracker on the Hill” by Dance Arts Los Alamos, 40’s music and dancing as well as dessert and cocktails. There also will be a live auction for big ticket film packages and a free drawing for MANH(A0TTAN posters and other giveaways.
Cost for the event is $25 for adults, $20 for high school students and children are free. Advance tickets are available for purchase 8-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Starbucks on Central Avenue. The admission price entitles the guest to one pose/photo. Each additional pose/photo is $10/guest.
The goals of A Night in MANH(A)TTAN are to promote the WGN America series MANH(A)TTAN series, celebrate the Manhattan Project National Historical Park, promote the New Mexico film industry and provide a community celebration.
This event is considered family-friendly—especially where the photos are concerned—but note that there will also be a cash bar near the music and dancing in the Pajarito Room.
