The American Legion Post 90, a non-profit veterans organization in Los Alamos, continues its membership drive, welcoming new veterans arriving in town for work at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Post 90 has quietly become one of the most active and organized social hubs in town, offering a full slate of free weekly events open to non-members, as our guests, to meet people, relax, and build community.
Membership is open to anyone who served at least one day of active federal military duty since Dec. 7, 1941, and received an honorable discharge (or is still serving honorably). Family members of eligible veterans can join affiliated organizations like the American Legion Auxiliary or the Sons of the American Legion.
Post 90’s weekly schedule has become a consistent draw. The Legion’s events calendar is updated regularly and can be found on its Facebook events page.
Events:
Monday nights – feature World Tavern Poker tournaments at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. Play is free, with participants earning points, prizes, and seats in annual Las Vegas cash tournaments. The poker events are structured, well run, and beginner friendly.
Tuesday and Wednesday nights – pool tables are free to play on when the Post hosts the local pool leagues and tables are reserved for league play.
Thursday nights start with trivia at 6 p.m. followed by karaoke at 7:30 p.m. Karaoke has become one of the most popular weekly events. Regulars say it draws a lively mix of singers, first timers, and enthusiastic supporters.
Friday nights – Live music takes over the Post 8-11 p.m. with no cover charge. Acts range from local favorites to visiting musicians, creating an easygoing way to start the weekend without leaving town.
Sundays – are dedicated to football with a potluck. Games are shown all day. Everyone is invited to bring a dish and stay a while.
In addition to the member drive, Post 90 is also hiring part-time day bartenders. A great opportunity for those who can work as little as one day a week.
