American Federation Of Teachers New Mexico Issues Judicial Endorsements For 2018 Elections

AFT-NM News:

ALBUQUERQUE American Federation of Teachers New Mexico President Stephanie Ly and AFT NM Committee on Political Education Chair Sara Attleson released the following statement:

“Our union has taken the extraordinary step to make endorsements in several judicial races on the ballot in the November 2018 New Mexico election. The decision to make these endorsements was not taken lightly, and we believe it is in the best interest of our members, their families, and the communities in which we live and work, to encourage the election of each of these judicial candidates.

“The reality is that we live in a society where activist jurists are issuing rulings daily, which hurt working New Mexicans and our public education system, both in New Mexico and across our country. These endorsements, like all AFT New Mexico endorsements, are based on the recommendation of our Committee on Political Education and approved by our statewide Executive Council. Each endorsement was made solely based on the candidates’ strong records and standing within the New Mexico legal community.”

The American Federation of Teachers New Mexico endorses the following candidates:

  • Michael Vigil, New Mexico Supreme Court;
  • Kristina Bogardus, New Mexico Court of Appeals;
  • Jacqueline Medina, New Mexico Court of Appeals;
  • Briana Zamora, New Mexico Court of Appeals;
  • Megan Duffy, New Mexico Court of Appeals; and
  • Jennifer Attrep, New Mexico Court of Appeals.
