Los Alamos County officials announced that utility work on Orange Street and Diamond Drive will create a 10-minute delay for this evening’s commuters heading north on Diamond Drive. Supporting the Western Area Phase 4 improvements, construction crews have been replacing waterlines in the Denver Steels area, requiring a lane drop on Diamond Drive. For the past two weeks, construction crews have been removing traffic control devices to eliminate the lane drop on Diamond Drive and accommodate the evening rush hour traffic. However, a water tie-in scheduled for Monday, Aug. 15 ran into some unforeseen delays, according to the Department of Public Utilities, resulting in traffic control devices remaining in place and northbound traffic restricted to one lane this evening.
County officials advise motorists to exercise caution when driving through this work zone and thank commuters for their patience.
