AFSCME Endorses Andrea Romero For House Dist. 46

House Dist. 46 Candidate Andrea Romero

AFSCME News:

The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), which represents 10,000 state, university, county, city, water utility, hospital, and other workers in New Mexico, has endorsed Andrea Romero for the House of Representatives in District46.

“Andrea cares deeply about making the lives of regular workers—like our members—better,” AFSCME Council 18 President Casey Padilla said. “She understands how important public services are from Santa Fe up through the Espanola Valley, and won’t shy away from taking on the big out-of-state corporations that take our money without investing back in our communities.”

Tirzio Lopez, Chair of the AFSCME Council 18 PEOPLE Committee, added “We’re excited to support a strong, bright woman like Andrea to represent those of us living in the Espanola Valley.  Santa Fe has to go in a different direction, and Andrea Romero will be a breath of fresh air to help workers without her work being influenced by big corporate contributions.”

“AFSCME represents so many of our unsung heroes—our nurses, corrections officers, child care providers, EMTs, and sanitation workers. I come from a union family and I care deeply about workers. I am so proud and it so meaningful for me to have AFSCME’s support,” Romero said
