Want something fun to do this weekend? Bring the whole family to Bandelier over Labor Day Weekend to participate in a number of exciting events and activities. 

Board the free shuttle from the White Rock Visitor Center to Frijoles Canyon and explore the ancestral cliff dwellings, take a hike to a waterfall, and participate in the following weekend events.    

Friday August 30: Bandelier Nightwalk … Join a Park Ranger for a silent night walk that transports you back in time. This is the last Nightwalk offered for the season. Participants are required to be silent during the one hour walk. Fee $6/adult and $3/child or senior with pass. Reservations required (call 505-672-3861 x 517 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm.)

Saturday August 31: Explore the Stars … Join a Park Ranger at the Juniper Campground Amphitheater for a trip through space.  Discover how to identify night sky objects like double stars, star clusters, and planets during a short multimedia presentation.  Gaze at some of these galactic sights in telescopes set up by members of the Pajarito Astronomers and monument staff.  During the program, enjoy a constellation tour using a powerful green laser. Ranger led talk 8-8:30 p.m. followed by telescope viewing from 8:30-10:30 pm. No additional fee. Bring water, dress in layers, and no white flashlights. Seating is provided in the amphitheater. Participants are encouraged to bring personal telescopes and binoculars for night sky viewing.  

Throughout the weekend: Cultural Demonstrators … Learn more about Pueblo arts and crafts by visiting our cultural demonstrators throughout the weekend at the Bandelier Visitor Center.  The Fragua’s from Jemez Pueblo will showcase pottery 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 2. The Santa Fe Raptor Center will bring interesting birds 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 through Monday Sept. 2. The Herrera’s from Cochiti Pueblo will be dancing in the garden of the visitor center Sunday Sept. 1. Fee – entrance fee $12/group $6/individual or show pass.
