A Path Towards Community: Museum Collections Management In A New Era July 27

The Friends of Coronado & Jemez Historic Sites present a lecture by Diana Sherman, manager of the Archaeological Research Collections in Santa Fe entitled, “A Path Towards Community: Museum Collections Management in a New Era” 2–3 p.m., Sunday, July 27.

Today, archaeology and archaeologists are transforming their relationship with tribes to forge new, improved field work that will benefit tribes and still offer protection of cultural resources into the future. This talk will cover, among other topics, a vision for the future of collections. Diana Sherman has been a Laboratory Manager at New Mexico Highlands University and the Collections Manager at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. In 2019 she became the Collections Manager at the Archaeological Research Collections where she is both curator and NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) coordinator.

The Friends of Coronado & Jemez Historic Sites offers a variety of interesting programs about the region’s history that connect people to the historic sites they support.
