A Letter Of Gratitude From The Family Of Joshua Miko

Thank you from the family of Joshua Miko:

Our family was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support following our son’s fatal accident on January 9th. While we hope to be able to thank many of you in person, we do not want to delay expressing our deep appreciation for the friends, neighbors and even strangers who demonstrated their caring and love in so many ways that helped us get through these first difficult days.

In addition to the much-appreciated thoughts, prayers, hugs, cards, flowers, visits, food deliveries, generous memorial donations, and more, it was especially heartwarming to hear stories of how Josh was appreciated by the community. It was wonderful to learn how many lives he touched in a positive way. We will always remember your kindness and compassion.

We would particularly like to thank the NJROTC and Boy Scout Troop 22. These local institutions volunteered for and organized several memorial tributes for Josh. The ROTC color guard and saber arch were very moving. The scouts also arranged for several touching tributes. These included preparing personalized luminarias and awarding Josh the rank of Eagle Scout. Perhaps the most emotional tribute was the Troop 22 Mounted Patrol forming a procession at the cemetery which included a horse without a rider.

Josh was a proud and active member of both the scouts and ROTC. Both organizations enhanced his personal commitment to volunteerism and to his community. We as a community should be proud that we have so many young men and women with the character, courage, and commitment to service exemplified by these organizations.

Sincerely,

David, Janice & Rebecca Miko
