Because electrification is a hot topic these days, community members interested in learning how the current electrification study for Los Alamos County is going are welcome to attend the Los Alamos Board of Public Utilities (BPU) meeting for an overview.
The meeting is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.
The BPU commissioned the study to examine the assumptions and impacts of community-wide conversions from natural gas appliances and gasoline-powered cars to all-electric appliances and electric vehicles.
The study is being conducted by 1898 & Co., a division of Burns and McDonnell Engineering Consultants. The consultants will explain assumptions for the study and forecast impacted growth in electrical demand by the years 2040 and 2055. They will further examine how Los Alamos County’s electrical distribution system may be impacted by the forecasted loads.
BPU work sessions and regular monthly meetings are open to the public, both in person and online. Meeting agendas and packets, as well as a Zoom link to attend remotely, can be found online at ladpu.com/BPULiveProceedings.
