Step Up Gallery To Host 29th Annual Los Alamos Photographers’ Show March 22 Through April 30

STEP UP GALLERY News:

The Los Alamos Photo Club is hosting its 29th Annual Show opening to the public Saturday in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library. The public is invited to attend the opening reception 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, March 24. Additionally, the public is invited to attend a guided tour 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15. Photographers will guide visitors through the exhibit and discuss techniques, equipment and subjects, as well as answer questions.

In recognition of Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s (PEEC) 25th anniversary, there will be a special section of the show for nature photographs of the Pajarito plateau and Los Alamos surroundings. On Earth Day, Saturday, April 26, PEEC will host an Earth Day Festival in celebration of its 25th anniversary. For additional information, visit PEEC’s Earth Day Festival.

In addition to the special PEEC sponsored section of the show, the exhibit includes photographs of a wide variety of subjects, ranging from expansive landscape vistas to wild animals, exotic vegetation and flowers, and portraits. Along with highlighting current work of Los Alamos Photo Club members, amateur photographers who live or work in the greater Los Alamos area were invited to enter their photos as well.

The photographers exhibiting in the 29th Annual Show include Larissa Aguilar, Christopher Armstrong, Eric Bjorkland, Steve Bublitz, Janell Chavarria, Beverly Cooper, Martin Cooper, Hal Davis, Doris Ford, Gerula Gross, Catherine Hensley, Leigh House, Steven G. Howard, Kenneth J. Johnson, Peter LaDelfe, Stephen Ledoux, Alan Marcus, ge mills, Harvey Morgan II, Randal Pair, John Sarracino, Richard Skolnik, S. Robert Wilson, Dixon Wolf and Veronika Vaneckova

Many of the photos in the show are available for purchase by directly contacting the photographer through their email addresses or phone numbers printed on each wall tag in the exhibit.

The Los Alamos Photo Club holds meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at Fuller Lodge Art Center. More information about the club is available on the LAPC website at lapc@groups.io/g/lapc/.

Meeting topics include discussions of photographic techniques, photo equipment, travel logs, software for photo processing, and other photography-related topics. Step Up Gallery (https://stepupgallery.org) is on the top level of Mesa Public Library at 2400 Central Ave. The gallery is open the same hours as the library: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
