MAINSTREET News:
Los Alamos MainStreet & Creative District (LAMSCD), a division of Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC), announces the hiring of a new staff member, Jennifer Armstrong.
Armstrong has been working with LACDC since June 2024 as the Ambassador Program Manager under Visit Los Alamos. In December, she expanded her role with the company by joining the MainStreet team as the Communications Manager.
Her focus is telling the success stories of Los Alamos MainStreet & Creative District through newsletters, impact reports, web content, and other media. She will also pursue grant funding for LAMSCD’s many initiatives.
Armstrong has worked as a writer and editor for more than 20 years. She has also taught college courses in writing, literature, and film studies in a variety of settings. She moved to Los Alamos in 2021 and worked previously as the volunteer coordinator at the Los Alamos Historical Society and as an academic coach at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos.
In her free time, Armstrong enjoys reading, walking, practicing yoga, spending time with family, and traveling. She also leads writing workshops and owns a small business, Lantern & Quill, which provides communications services for individuals, businesses, and non-profits. Armstrong holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Over the years, Los Alamos MainStreet & Creative District has developed a rich body of projects and collaborations. Much of the work happens behind the scenes and includes connecting businesses and organizations with resources and opportunities.
The final product of this involved process is often the success of an event or a business, and LAMSCD wants to tell those stories.
By having a part-time position dedicated to communications, MainStreet is committing to providing a more robust report to the community as well as strengthening its relationships with district businesses and organizations.
Armstrong works alongside LAMSCD Executive Director Jacquelyn Connolly and Event Manager Alison Watkins.
