SALA Event Center Presents An Exciting Weekend

SALA Los Alamos Event Center is thrilled to bring a diverse lineup of entertainment to the community this weekend, featuring a live theatrical performance, Hollywood hits, and the much-anticipated Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival.

Thursday, Feb. 20 The weekend kicks off with a special screening of National Theatre Live: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde at 7 p.m. This event is proudly sponsored by the Los Alamos Arts Council and brings one of the greatest comedic plays to the big screen.

Friday, Feb. 21 – Sunday, Feb. 23

Blockbuster Screenings Movie lovers can enjoy the latest Hollywood releases at SALA:

  • Captain America: Brave New World – Friday at 12:30 p.m. & 7 p.m.; Saturday at 1 p.m. & 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Paddington in Peru – Friday at 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m. & 7 p.m.; Sunday at 11 a.m.

Saturday, Feb. 22

Classics Series As part of the Classics Series, SALA will present The Way We Were at 6:30 p.m., sponsored by Wiemann Wealth. This timeless romantic drama is sure to delight classic film enthusiasts.

Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival In addition to blockbuster films, SALA is honored host the Los Alamos Film and Culture Festival, a celebration of independent cinema featuring student films, documentaries, and short films from around the world.

  • 3-4:30 p.m. – Student Films (Harriet Alone, Sarou, Menstrual Narratives)
  • 5-6:30 p.m. – Feature Film & Short Film (Vasomotor Rhinitis, Ultimate Citizens)

Saturday, Feb. 22

  • 1-3 p.m. – Documentary & Short Film (The Barn, Sex in the Soviet Union)
  • 3-5 p.m. – Documentary & Short Film (Brother’s Horn, The Architects of Hope)
  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Documentary & Short Film (Bubbling Synapses, Sergio Dondoli’s Happy Life)

Sunday, Feb. 23

  • 1-3 p.m. – Short Films (Camino, The Santa Who Hated Christmas, Count Down, Bleach Bone)
  • 3-4:30 p.m. – Short Films (Towards Mina, Prism, Far From It, Vas Mar, Cowboy Boots)
  • 5-5:30 p.m. – Announcement of Festival Winners
