When we think of hard work, we would usually think of the trades: mechanical work, technicians, or even plumbers. But you probably never thought that working for the schools was really hard work, too. Well, Connie Goettee is the Public Information Officer and AP Coordinator for Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) and an amazingly hard worker.
She went to college to study journalism, but later found out that reporters don’t make much money. So Goettee started her career in marketing communications. After a few years of doing that she took some time off.
“I decided that it was boring after a while of taking years off and decided that I wanted to work for the schools,” Goettee said.
After working at a few jobs, Goettee said, a position came open with LAPS in forming the website and school newsletter and marketing. She said it is a very fun job to do even though it is a lot of work. The LAPS Communication Department is responsible for press releases, newsletters and social media posts.
“It is fun to showcase kids being kids and highlighting different students having fun and showing off their skills,” Goettee said.
LAPS Superintendent Jennifer Guy commended Goettee for her excellent work ethic, creativity and compassion.
“Connie is an amazing, talented employee. She truly cares about our district and our students. She always finds new ways to get information out about the great things happening in the district and ways to celebrate students,” Superintendent Guy said. “We are fortunate to have Connie at LAPS.”
