Ms. Jessica Velasquez, the Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM), has issued the official CALL to the DPNM 2024 State Pre-Primary Nominating Convention, to be held Saturday, March 9th, 2024. The purpose of the State Pre-Primary Convention is to accomplish the following:
1. Nominate Democratic candidates whose names will appear on the NM Primary ballot in June.
2. Vote on whether to adopt the new DPNM Platform presented by the State Platform Committee.
3. Deliberate, debate, and vote on any DPNM Resolutions presented at the convention.
CALL to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF LOS ALAMOS COUNTY WARD ELECTIONS and 2024 PRE-PRIMARY CONVENTION
Pursuant to the DPNM Chair’s official CALL for the DPNM State Pre-Primary Convention, I am now issuing the official CALL to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF LOS ALAMOS COUNTY 2024 Pre-Primary Convention and to the Ward Elections of Convention Delegates.
• The purpose of the County Pre-Primary Convention is to certify the election of 13 state-convention delegates who will represent Los Alamos and vote accordingly at the March 9th State Pre-Primary Convention.
• Other business that may be conducted at the county convention includes: adoption of county-party resolutions, adoption or amendment of supplemental county-party rules, and conducting other business pertaining to the county party.
The DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF LOS ALAMOS COUNTY 2024 County Pre-Primary Convention will be called to order at 4:00 pm on [February 24, 2024 at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Avenue, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
The electors (voters) at the county convention will be all convention attendees who are verified “30-day Democrats” registered in your county.
Because the DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF LOS ALAMOS conducts “pass through” (aka “certifying”) pre-primary conventions, the convention electors will certify the ward-elected delegates to be the county’s state-convention delegates.
• Registration of convention electors and other attendees will open at 2:55 pm at the county convention location
• Registration of convention electors and other attendees will close at 3:55 PM
ELECTIONS OF STATE-CONVENTION DELEGATES IN THE WARDS
This message is also the official CALL to Ward meetings/elections to elect state-convention delegates, to be held as follows:
• Ward A: Called to order on February 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave, Los Alamos NM to elect 4 delegates. Registration opens at 12:55 pm.
• Ward B: Called to order on February 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM, at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave, Los Alamos, NM to elect 3 delegates. Registration opens at 12:55 PM
• Ward C: Called to order on February 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM, at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave, Los Alamos, NM to elect 6 delegates. Registration opens at 12:55 PM
All county residents who are registered Democrats in Los Alamos by January 25, 2024 are eligible to vote in their ward elections.
• Registration and verification of status for ward elections will open at 12:55 pm at the ward meeting location.
• Registration and verification for ward members will close at 1:55 PM.
NOTE: Late arrivals will not be registered and will not be able to vote in the ward elections.
