NMSP News:

SANTA FE — New Mexico State Police officers continued to work hard in the month of January in Santa Fe.

The month of January for State Police officers stationed in Santa Fe was successful. Officers were proactive in keeping the citizens of Santa Fe safe both on the road and in the communities.

Breakdown of their work:

  • 15 DWI arrests
  • 5 stolen vehicles recovered
  • 19 felony arrests
  • 10 misdemeanor arrests
  • 13 crashes investigated
  • 742 traffic stops
  • 426 citations issued
  • 332 calls for service

Interstate 25 at La Bajada Hill was a location that officers made a significant impact. Since the beginning of the month, officers have conducted 10 operations from the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., resulting in 195 traffic stops and 195 traffic citations being issued. They investigated 1 multi vehicle crash. As mentioned before, the goal of these operations was to stop and issue citations to drivers who continued to drive above the posted speed limit, drive aggressively, drive distracted, follow too closely, and any other dangerous driving behaviors observed by officers.

Along with traffic enforcement and arrests, officers had a large footprint at this year’s legislative session. This was a task that involved a lot of manpower and District 1 officers stepped up to the challenge.

“New Mexico State Police is proud to serve the communities they work in and the above-mentioned numbers show the diligent efforts they put forth when it comes to safety and the public.” —NMSP
