Today, Aug. 21, 2023 is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.
DEA seized more than 58.3 million fentanyl-laced fake pills in 2022.
The DEA Laboratory has found that of the fake pills analyzed, six out of ten now contain a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl.
To spread the word of prevention and awareness, DEA has launched two initiatives to shine a light on this deadly epidemic:
- One Pill Can Kill is DEA’s campaign to provide informational resources to students, parents and educators on the dangers of fake pills; and
- Faces of Fentanyl exhibit commemorates those who lost their lives to fentanyl poisoning.
DEA invites the public to participate in National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. Help DEA save lives by getting educated and talking to others about the dangers of fentanyl.
