The Los Alamos Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa is pleased to announce $1,000 scholarship awards to Yunseo Kim and Sonja Ebey, 2023 graduates of Los Alamos High School.

Kim will attend Columbia University in New York and plans to double-major in Political Science and Human Rights. Kim’s future aspirations include pursuing a career in diplomacy, joining humanitarian aid organizations like UNICEF, and working with the United Nations to drive positive change worldwide. Ebey will be attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and plans to major in math and physics, while continuing with extracurricular dance.

Phi Beta Kappa was founded in 1776 to acknowledge and honor the pursuit of academic excellence in the arts and sciences. Chapters are based on college campuses, and there are 50 alumni associations across the country. The Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Chapter has been awarding scholarships to members of each Los Alamos High School graduating class since 1957, supported by generous donations from local Phi Beta Kappa members.

The local Chapter is planning a potluck picnic from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, July 22 at Urban Park Pavilion, Los Alamos. Phi Beta Kappa members and their guests are invited to attend.
